Tentative Fire Training Topics Still in Work (Schedule may change if these can be scheduled):
Fire Fighter I Certification Class – To start in Late Summer.
Wildland: Additional out-of-district USFS class offerings will be posted as they become available. Annual Training Requirements:
Fire 14 hours
Station 12 hours
Medical 12 hours
HazMat 2 hours
Wildland 8 hours
SCBA 0 hours *
Other 0 hours
Total 48 hours * For 2008 and beyond, SCBA Proficiency MUST be demonstrated. 1 Burn House or 1 SCBA Maze will be required and will count toward your Fire Training hours. Remember the NEW rules for training hours, 2008 and beyond:
1) Fire training MUST be Fire (NO ROLL OVER HOURS ACCEPTED)
2) Medical training MUST be Medical
3) Station training MUST be Station
4) HazMat training MUST be HazMat
5) Wildland training MUST be WildlandRolling over hours from category-to-category is no longer acceptable. For 2008 and beyond, you must meet each category independently. The rationale for this is many firefighters are not getting ANY fire training but transferring hours from every other category to satisfy the fire requirement. 24 hours of the required training must be obtained in-district with the remainder acquired out of district - as long as it is documented in writing. Two (2) hours of training (in excess of the 48 required) can be credited as a single call if a firefighter is short on call response (below the 20% minimum). Effective January 1, 2006, the minimum call attendance requirement for Pension credit is set at 20%, with a minimum of 15% actual call response, the other 5% may be made up with training hours over and above the 48-hour requirement. 24 hours of the required training must be in-district.The call attendance and training requirement minimums MUST BOTH be met or you will NOT receive pension credit for that year. NO EXCEPTIONS!NOTE: New Trainee Firefighters, these minimums do not apply to you until you are fully active firefighters on the department. Wildland Team Members Training Requirements: You are required to attend one of the 8 hour Wildland Refreshers plus an additional 4 hours of in-district training and PASS the Arduous Pack Test to obtain a Red Card. We now have the entire Firefighter I & HazMat Awareness curriculum on the Station #1 computer. It is available 24 hours a day/7 Days a week/365 Days a year for you to take computer based interactive classes. Computer course credit towards the required 48 hours of training will be limited to a MAXIMUM of 5 hours. You can take ALL that you would like, but you will only receive a total of 5 hours of credit towards hazmat & fire (Not 5 hours each fire & hazmat, but 5 hours Total for the combination of fire & hazmat). There is also computer-based training available on the St. Anthony's website
This will also provide training opportunities at your convenience. Your login will be your birthdate followed by the last four digits of your social security number. (Example: mmddyyxxxx). Computer course credit toward the required 12 hours of medical training will be limited to a MAXIMUM of 5 hours. You can take ALLthat you would like, but you will only receive a total of 5 hours of credit toward the 12 hour minimum requirement. Written documentation from the St. Anthony's website (Continuing Education Report) must be provided to Jan Mikulich to receive credit for all courses taken. EMT's please note that the requirement for renewal is 36 hours of CEU's over the three year period. The 36 hours of required CEU'S MUST be broken down into the following: 12 hours of Trauma, 12 hours of Medical and 12 hours of "Other" medical related trainings.
