Today the National Weather Service issues a Red Flag warning that includes Coal Creek Canyon. A Red Flag warning means weather conditions (typically winds and heat combined) are set for potential extreme fire behavior; i.e. significant combustion and rapid spread. A red flag warning in itself (although already atop an existing burn ban) allows no open air burning.
Given these extreme conditions, and the ongoing incident of the Cold Springs Fire (with its utilization of fire-fighting resources) Coal Creek Canyon Fire Department are implementing patrols. If you see Coal Creek Canyon Fire Department apparatus around the Canyon it does NOT necessarily mean there is an ongoing incident. We are implementing patrols to monitor the situation.
Most fires are human caused, so please continue to protect our community and exercise caution. Thank you for your assistance & support.
